Welcome! Let's start by introducing myself; my name is Kim Stoddard Pixley. My journey began with obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. After working in the field of Psychology, I knew that I wanted to be even more involved with the students I was working with and went back to school to get my teaching certificate. I also completed the training to become a certified reading specialist. In 2016, I completed my training to become an accredited dyslexia consultant and tutor. I have also completed courses in special education. I chose special education because so many of my students have learning difficulties in more than just reading. I have spent the last 30 years in education. I immediately realized that I had a love for teaching kids to read and, more importantly, discovering why students struggled to learn to read. I also have a personal motivation for wanting to seek out reasons children struggle to read. I am a mom of six boys; 2 biological and 4 adopted. Of those six boys, four have reading disabilities. None of them were accurately diagnosed. As a result, my heart is to help students and their families who are struggling in school, specifically in reading and writing. With an accurate diagnosis, students and their families can put the correct interventions in place to positively impact their lives.

A personal approachAs your professional guide, I personally provide all interviews, tests, and reports. I do not use assistants or test technicians. As a mom, I know how overwhelming it can be trying to process information and at the same time being an educated advocate for your child. As an additional service, I am happy to attend IEP meetings, we can discuss the cost as we work together to take your child to the next step.
